About the Diabetes category

Diabetes is a chronic disease which, if ignored, can lead to the following problems: Eye retina disease (retinopathy) – in 95% of cases, Kidney disease (nephropathy) and kidney failure: develops in 20–30% of diabetics. The risk of a cardiovascular event leading to death is 9.1 times higher than in a healthy person. About 30% of diabetics suffer from nerve damage (neuropathy). Limb amputations are performed in 3% of diabetes cases, although all of them can be avoided.

In this category we post information helpful in dealing with type 1 diabetes (pancreatic failure), type 2 (insulin resistance) and type 3 (Alzheimer’s disease, which some people refer to as type 3).

My grandmother died from type 2 diabetes, my mother has type 1 diabetes (which is rare – acquired at the age of 65). To say that I am in a risk group is an understatement. That’s why I have delved quite deeply into this topic.
