Specialists in the field of medicine agree that Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is often the result of harmful lifestyle habits such as smoking cigarettes. Although a COPD diagnosis usually implies a chronic and progressive course of the disease, it is important to emphasize that lifestyle modification, including quitting smoking (for example, using Allen Carr’s method), can significantly slow its progression and improve the patient’s quality of life. It is worth noting that people who are not interested in giving up smoking may not experience the full benefits of the further recommendations for managing COPD.
Below is a general video by Dr. Michael Greger on how to improve COPD with diet:
Testimonial videos from recovered patients:

- Another example of a disarmingly simple solution that definitely won’t work for everyone, but might work for you: the quote comes from Complete Cure for My COPD Symptoms
What works for me
I have always slept on my side. I’m a bit restless and at night I toss and turn from side to side. I never sleep on my back. I have 2 pillows.
I quite accidentally discovered that when I sleep on my stomach, using only 1 pillow, the phlegm I produce drains into my digestive tract while I sleep. As a result, there is no phlegm in the morning and therefore ZERO coughing! And no coughing at any other time of day either! This solution is so simple, and it works while you sleep! The change that has taken place in me is just almost miraculous. I really hope this can help others suffering from the same symptoms.
I’ve noticed that when I’m lying on my stomach, my head has to be turned to the left or right so I can breathe. When my head is turned to the left, I bend my left leg and keep my right leg straight. When my head is turned to the right, I bend my right leg. Please let me know if it helps you too.
- And here is another recovered patient who, despite COPD, started training while consistently following his doctors’ recommendations. Kevin from Everyday COPD (I’m listing him third because the description is the least precise and the recording is low quality)
